Does anyone know if Serial Ultrabay Enhance and Ultrabay Enhanced are interchangeable?

No, they aren't. The "Serial" in the name refers to Serial ATA or SATA, which is physically and electrically incompatible with IDE.

You need a SATA-to-IDE bridge chip (as used in the T43, R52, and X41) in order for an IDE drive to connect to a SATA port, or vice versa (SATA drive to IDE port, which is how mSATA to IDE adapters work).
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons
