Thinkpad a22e with windows 98, 2 questions
Re: Thinkpad a22e with windows 98, 2 questions
Windows 98 SE does not have built-in USB mass storage drivers.
An unofficial port of the Windows Me driver - known as NUSB - exists.

Beware - if your version is not English and not one of the localized versions offered there, you may run into issues.
I've outline the fix which worked for me, here:

As for apps - well, whatever you need. Probably the general stuff - archive program (7zip is good and compatible), some sort of media player (Winamp, BSPlayer, Media Player Classic). Notepad++ for file editing. Do you need a full-fledged office suite?
For most of these you would have to hunt specifically for older, Win9x-compatible versions.
Games... well, what games do you like? On Win98 you can also play DOS games natively.

If you have installed Win 98 in the basic version then you need to upgrade to Win98SE.
The downside of Win98SE is that you have to install drivers for each USB device.
It is worth considering the installation of WinXP.
