Bought a new PC
I just bought a new PC a week ago (Back Ordered a month) as I finally wanted to get a PC that supports Windows 11 and the latest CPU (Intel Core i 13th gen) It is not a ThinkPad or ThinkCentre but a Dell Inspiron 3020 mini tower. This is the first PC I bought brand new in many decades. Mostly just upgraded my machines or bought 2nd hand. I did upgrade my IBM ThinkCentre A50p laydown desktop with a ThinkCentre M920 tower motherboard that support 8th gen core i processors. So for now it officially supports windows 11 until Microsoft says they no longer support 8th gen.
I like the little mini tower and is called mist blue for the front bezel. This is probably going to be my last PC I buy and will just upgrade this. That is another reason I opted out of buying a laptop being Dell or ThinkPad (Soldered in CPUs and slowly starting to solder in RAM)
I got this machine at bestbuy on sale with the (Dell S2721NX 27inch IPS LED FHD AMD FreeSync VESA - Monitor (HDMI) Black) for $600 and not bad for a new complete machine. The tower by it self was originally $699 or $900 on dells website. Grand total without sale is $1.059.98
Just for fun I pulled off my shelf a Dell machine that was cheap and small from 2001. A Dell SmartStep with the almost same blue front panel. I was surprised to see this machine is going for a lot of money now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/175779909494?c ... gJgKfD_BwE
These were Dells cheapest option PCs desktop along with a Smartstep laptop.
Here is the images of the Dell Smartstep and Inspiron 3020 side by side. https://patcomps.weebly.com/my-pcs.html

Re: Bought a new PC
I bought a brand new IBM NetVista M41 Tower. I couldn't pass this up as I am done buying and collecting PCs and just going to keep what I have and upgrade my PCs if need be, but I bought this for $50 sealed in box and figured it was worth getting. Tower, keyboard and mouse only. Product sticker IBM Netvista Type 6794-11U is on the box. No monitor. Looks similar to my IBM ThinkCentre A50p tower other than the PSU is located in the middle backside.

Re: Bought a new PC
Well I went back to the same place where I bought the brand new IBM Netvista and the guy there said he had one more brand new machine if I wanted it. For the same price. Tower, keyboard and mouse only. It was a Dell Dimension 4600. So I bought it. I asked him where he got these new machines and said he bids / buys storage containers or storage spaces that are on auctions for people that don't pay or abandon their storage rentals. Both machines came from the same storage bin. He said that's all there was for PCs that were new sealed.
The Specs of the New Dell Dimension 4600:
Dual cd drives
DVD-ROM drive - top
CD-ROM/RW drive - bottom
1.44MB Floppy drive
40GB WD HDD with OEM Windows XP Home Edition "COA on side of machine"
3GB RAM DDR
Intel 82865G Graphics
Intel Pentium 4 2.80GHz Northwood
Open AGP slot for graphics card.
1 PCI modem card.
I was surprised to see this machine had 3GB RAM. Usually this era machine would come with 1 512MB or 2 512MB sticks or even 2 256MBs. This has 2 1GB sticks and 2 512MB sticks. The CMOS was dead and replaced it. I removed the thermal paste. It actually wasn't bad but a little dried "clay like" around the edge of the cpu and heatsink. Still good in center, but just replaced it anyway. This will make a good retro machine or a sleeper machine. The good thing is this machine has 2 SATA ports on the board so can get a sata SSD. I think this board is stuck at Northwood as with my time with Pentium 4 era machines it will not support Prescott or cedarmill, as those are socket 775 if remember and this is socket 478.
Doing my research if I would of gotten a Dimension 4700 "Last of this Dimension case design" it would of came with a PCIe x16 instead of this AGP but all well. I have a soft spot for the Pentium 4 era machines as it was last times when I repaired for IBM and worked on PCs for my business along with the Core 2 Duo. I pretty much quit doing my pc business around the 1st-3rd generation Core i series and IBM sold to lenovo in 2005.
I will probably open up the IBM NetVista later on to see its specs.

I bet, if you go back to that same shop, the guy will just have "discovered" another brand new machine.

Re: Bought a new PC
I don't know. He has an entire DVD/Blu-ray store worth of movies. It literally looks like a used movie store / electronics /games. Bigger than my house. I don't know how you get that much stuff just from auction containers / storage places. But I am done going there for awhile anyway.
I was looking online and found this, but this seller is located in Maryland. I am in PA but you can see it is a storage place. https://www.ebay.com/itm/285264950752?h ... ondition=3
Maybe from same guy or knows this seller, Said he goes to OH and MD to bid on these containers.
Heres a Dell like mine: https://www.ebay.com/itm/195782047294?h ... 000%7C1500 Just surprised there is a lot of new old machines around in storage.
