Bios messages being displayed at startup - "Machine Type is invalid" etc.
Bios messages being displayed at startup - "Machine Type is invalid" etc.
X1 Carbon 10th Gen type 21CB. Replaced the motherboard (new mobo is brand new). Boots into Windows fine.
Messages are:
2200: Machine type and serial number are invalid
2201: Machine UUID is invalid
2202: Product name is invalid
Updated the bios to the latest after installing the motherboard and the messages remain.
I have the ThinkPad Maintenance Utilities v1.11 utility. What should I enter in the fields if this is the right program to use (tried several variations of serial numbers and machine types and uuid's and they report back that the number does not match the correct length?)? Can these messages be cleared or ignored by some setting in the bios? (We own a shop and this is a customer's computer. We do not qualify to become an authorized Lenovo Repair Center. It's quite alot of hardware that is required to be sold to qualify. Unless you know otherwise of a diff. process. I would be happy to become authorized.)

Re: Bios messages being displayed at startup - "Machine Type is invalid" etc.
Thanks for your reply dr_st.
Update:
Managed to get the first message to not appear thru the utilities program and changing the system serial number (format is: 1SMMMMTTTTCCSSSSSSSS or 1STTTTMMMMCCSSSSSSSS, I've seen it both ways). And restarting the computer took care of the UUID message. Now just the "Product name is invalid" message displays. Isn't the product name similar to "21CB000D"? If not, what is its format? Doesn't seem to be anywhere in the Lenovo site for my laptop.

Re: Bios messages being displayed at startup - "Machine Type is invalid" etc.
It's typically the 4-character product ID, followed by a 4 character type, then a 2 character country code. So 21CB000DUS (if it's a US model), or something else of the sort.

Get that 20-incos_pdf as mentioned in the other link.
My comment on the (Device type 20) Note1: in that PDF, because it has a TYPO:

Note 1:
1S26474AU78F12345 seen there is a (wrong) 17-char. EXAMPLE only, NOT the number to enter in BIOS!!!
1S26474AU78F1234 with (correct) 16-char. is what it SHOULD have been.
