T430 Thinklight and Integrated Camera not working

Hello all,

My T430 has never had the integrated webcam or thinklight work on it, I have owned it for 7-8 years. I recently bought a new camera module and cable w/thinklight, to no changes. I am running windows 7 along with linux mint, neither of them even has the webcam show up in device manager. My activity LEDs and the lid close sensor still function however. I tried installing (in w7) the old drivers, the new drivers, power management, thinkvantage, communications utility and anything related to the camera that lenovo released. Only thing I can think of is bad motherboard. Any ideas?

1. There's the off chance that both cables are defective, given their age

2. Like you said, it could be a system board issue right from the start.

3. One other way to test is to have another T430 (or any Thinkpad that uses the same camera module) that has known working camera and Thinklight.

4. Have you checked the BIOS settings?
