possible conflict, yoga X1 g4 vs serial USB driver CH341SER

#1 Post by upiru » Tue Oct 10, 2023 8:05 am

Hello brave padthinkers :screwy:

I have quite the annoying problem here.
I've recently bought a Laserpecker 4, great machine or so it seams
but very poor technical support and approximate software ...

I have two yogas X1, both gen 4, on deck and none will connect to the laser.
I had tried many things, safe mode, all services down, nothing helped...
I did find my old Dell latitude 830 (almost dead) and a friend came by with his brand new ideapad Flex5, both connected perfectly !
So this comes from the Yogas X1 gen4, both of them, and they are not the exact same build neither the exact same software and drivers installed.
Yet they both present the same bug, can't find the laser... what are the odds ?

After 5 or 6 mails, laser's support asked me if I know how to plug an USB cord, they had to make sure i guess ..
and Lenovo support tells me they won't look in to it, not their driver not their problem.

So my query here is maybe some one had a similar issue with the CH341SER.inf serial to USB driver ?
It seams to be used in some other setups, I've heard arduinos use it ...

Hopefully some one got an idea of what's wrong :help:
thx

What do you need the CH341ser.inf for?
That's only for flashing a BIOS.
Maybe you have a bad USB-C cable and/or Bluetooth dongle?
Check the Power Options for the USB-controller and UNtick the option to "switch USB off to save power".

I don't have anything like that, but Google is full of info...

Hi, thanks for trying
I did try all those things,

both the laser and the 2 yogas x1 works fine with other appliances,
i've tried every cables I have... this has to be software,
must be some kind of conflict around this CH340 driver ...
there must be something on the X1 that other PC don't have, I don't know ...

... and CH340 or CH341SER seams to be used by many gadjets out there, including some lasers and this new LP4
seams to emulate the old serial bus, don't ask me this goes beyond my level of technicity

:?

Have you tried all three USB3.0 ports?

yes I tried them, 8 ports in total 4 on each PCs ( 2 type C and 2 type A)

when I connect the Laser, I can see "USB-SERIAL CH340 (COM 6)" appear in the device manager
I've tried with lightburn too, the laser reacts some how, a beep, vent blowing half a second, then lightburn freezes ... :?

Maybe try swapping W11 for W10 (or v.v.), or try Linux?
