Re: Any way to send a *scheduled* SMS (Access Connections?)

Many thanks! I will look into this. It needs to be an SMS because an email might get sent during say a wifi connection, so would not create a "chargeable event" on the SIM card. Another method has been suggested: use the AT SMS command(s) to the appropriate COM port (the built-in 3G radio usually ap...

Any way to send a *scheduled* SMS (Access Connections?)

This is to prevent a PAYG SIM card expiring after 90 days of non-use (UK Vodafone). If Access Connections had a command line mode giving access to the SMS feature, then with the windows AT command one could do it. But I can't see any such feature documented. It's obviously possible but would need a ...

Many thanks!

This

Connectify also looks very good.

Has anybody actually tried this on the X230?

Can X230 WIFI act as an access point?

I have an X230, I7, 300GB HD, win7, with a 3G ("WWAN") radio in it (Ericsson H5321GW), and wonder if there is any way to make the built-in WIFI to act as an access point to which e.g. an Iphone could connect as a client. The internet connection would come via 3G, obviously. I have googled but cannot...

Re: Simple software for Vodafone Mobile Data?

Solved: I created a new network connection using control panel / networks. I chose the manual / dial-up, entered *99# as the number, and of the modems presented just ticked the one of the two Ericsson which does NOT have the word "data" in it, and then left all the network connection settings as the...

UPDATE:

Trueimage 13 (2013) does work with the SATA controller, in the AHCI mode. Well, it boots off the CD and discovers the HD OK. I have not tried restoring a backup with it yet.

Simple software for Vodafone Mobile Data?

The X230 has aicsson H5321GW GPRS/3G modem. The Access Connections program does work but it keeps hanging and does all kinds of other weird things. I installed the current Vodafone mobile data prog from their UK website but it turns out to be a piece of junk which doesn't work. Years ago, Voda used ...

This is ex Ebay :)

I have ordered a PCMCIA adaptor for SD cards, made by "Lindy". About £30. Life is too short.

I did the BIOS update too, BTW.

Everything else on the laptop works great (winXP) so I am happy :)

Thinkpad X230/I7 bluescreens upon SD card insertion (winXP)

I have tried 16GB, 8GB, 4GB and even an old 256MB. There is a pause of 2-3 secs while windows XP realises the card has been inserted, and then it bluescreens. The error happens too fast to read; the computer reboots right away. I have installed both of the Ricoh and Realtek media card drivers from h...

Re: X230, windows XP, SSD, and UMTS/3G

The SSD is Intel SSDSC2BW180A3L. A few more bits of feedback: Even though I have installed (or think I have installed) the HD drivers, the HD has to be in Compatibility mode. If I switch the BIOS to ACPI (or AHCI?) mode, it bluescreens when windows is starting. There are two drivers offered for XP: ...

For a complicated reason I need winXP. I am sure it can be "installed" but how much is going to work? I don't need cameras or fingerprint scanners working. Disabling the touch screen

I have the Lenovo Tablet 2 and to prevent accidental touching I would like to kill the touch screen, until a button on the side is pressed. That has been tried but it doesn't work, probably due to some other stuff which this software does when it comes to storing data in certain places. XP is the only way... Re: X201 and windoze XP SP3?

I don't need fingerprints or the security chip, but would definitely want the GPRS/3G radio ("WAN"?) and WIFI. An SSD should not be an issue; they emulate an EIDE or SATA interface. I have installed various SSDs in XP machines (desktop and laptop). AFAIK, the reason that app doesn't run under W7 is ...

How to stop Rescue & Recovery popup at bootup?

I have a x60x 1704, and some time ago replaced the 80GB DD with a 80GB SSD. In the process of the HD change I lost the R&R partition - basically because Acronis Trueimage was not capable of copying it over. This didn't matter as I use TI for image backups anyway... Thanks xene that's very good. I just have not found anybody selling those products over here (UK). Overseas shipping tends to inflate prices too much (I did find them in the USA).

I've ordered one of those mentioned by cros, from Ebay.
