@lead_org: it spilled on the right side of the keyboard, so that may be why my laptop isn't toast.
So far, it's back to normal. I think it was just the keyboard, after all.

Re: X200s water spill - help!
It seems that the system works fine, and I'm typing this message from it. However, the strange thing is whenever I plug in the power, it starts up by itself. Weird.

X200s water spill - help!
I accidentally spilled a cup of water over my X200s near the right side of the keyboard, which caused the system to shutdown immediately. I thought Thinkpads would be spill-proof, guess not. Anyways, I disconnected the battery and let it sit for an hour, then I carefully wiped the exterior and remov...

idle temperature is about 52 C, which is high but acceptable. however, under load (gaming, etc) it goes up to 98 C and then the frame rate stutters. it will randomly crash, or the system will standby or power off because of the heat. I told lenovo on the phone that this is the problem that I'm havin...

T61p warranty repair for system planar
here's my problem: The GPU overheats and causes video stuttering issues and also causes the laptop to shut down without any warning. The GPU temperature peaks at around 97 C. I have a one year warranty and I'm considering getting the planar replaced if possible. I've never dealt with Lenovo support ...

T61p GPU temperature
My GPU peaks at about 98 C. I'm a little worried that it may be too high and shorten the lifespan of my laptop. Any ideas on how to lower it? I've already cleaned out my fan and applied arctic silver 5 on the GPU.

I tried looking up my T61p. I can't figure out which screen mine is. It's neither the Samsung nor LG FRU. my screen FRU is 42T0329 What I got seems OK to me except at 1920 X 1280 the icons and fonts are too small to be useable, so I changed it to 1280 X 1024. 1280x1024? not native resolution and not...

High performance and no heat is a combination that doesn't really match, but still i seen models from HP that is pretty quiet even if good performance/pretty high spec. The heat might not be what worry me most, but the noise. If pretty warm, but still quiet then it's fine, but usually heat means no...

By default in Windows and Linux (I've tried each) the OS keeps parking and unparking the hard drive. This is very very bad for the drive because each time it does this it adds another cycle and it can only last 600,000 cycles (mine's at 760,000!). This leads to the drive failing prematurely, usually...

I found out that it is actually Windows XP that is causing my load cycle count to be so high, I have no idea why. When it idles I can audibly hear the hard drive head parking and unparking and it is very annoying. There is a script for linux that fixes this error, and I have no idea how to resolve i...

seagate 7200rpm 100gb drive about to die
look at the load cycle count, it's 759584. under 600000 is considered safe. also there's a lot of "pre-fail" statuses. i've been running ubuntu linux and i didn't know that it aggressively parks the hard drive about 10 times a minute! need a replacement, preferably a 200gb 7200rpm drive. SMART Attri...

T61p case mods?
I've thought about various ways to modify my T61p for a while now and just thought I'd get ideas out. If you have any pics of a modded T61 please share! 1. Change LED colors The LED lights indicating power and wifi are green by default. it may be possible to change it to blue by placing a thin red t...
