Re: X200s water spill - help!

Thanks for all the helpful responses!

@lead_org: it spilled on the right side of the keyboard, so that may be why my laptop isn't toast.

So far, it's back to normal. I think it was just the keyboard, after all.

Re: X200s water spill - help!

It seems that the system works fine, and I'm typing this message from it. However, the strange thing is whenever I plug in the power, it starts up by itself. Weird.

X200s water spill - help!

I accidentally spilled a cup of water over my X200s near the right side of the keyboard, which caused the system to shutdown immediately. I thought Thinkpads would be spill-proof, guess not. Anyways, I disconnected the battery and let it sit for an hour, then I carefully wiped the exterior and remov...

idle temperature is about 52 C, which is high but acceptable. however, under load (gaming, etc) it goes up to 98 C and then the frame rate stutters. it will randomly crash, or the system will standby or power off because of the heat. I told lenovo on the phone that this is the problem that I'm havin...

this is the exact reason why my T61p with the 570M is at the repair shop in Memphis right now, it overheats like no other mobile video card. I really do hope they replace my system planar..

I called them up and they said they'll send in the box soon. they're going to test it and possibly replace the planar, CPU, and/or heatsink.

T61p warranty repair for system planar

here's my problem: The GPU overheats and causes video stuttering issues and also causes the laptop to shut down without any warning. The GPU temperature peaks at around 97 C. I have a one year warranty and I'm considering getting the planar replaced if possible. I've never dealt with Lenovo support ...

I seem to have alleviated this problem by applying more thermal grease so that the GPU makes full contact with the heatsink. It now peaks at 80 C :D

I've modded my CPU and GPU with Arctic Silver 5, undervolted the CPU, and still the GPU overheats (in my opinion). Maybe I did something wrong with the thermal grease though.

When I reached 98 C GPU I had everything running at full speed. The CPU peaked at 78 C which is OK but I'm more worried about the GPU. I also have a 6459CTO.

Right now my CPU is idling at 36 C thanks to Arctic Silver 5, but GPU seems to be idling at 53 C.

T61p GPU temperature

My GPU peaks at about 98 C. I'm a little worried that it may be too high and shorten the lifespan of my laptop. Any ideas on how to lower it? I've already cleaned out my fan and applied arctic silver 5 on the GPU.

I tried looking up my T61p. I can't figure out which screen mine is. It's neither the Samsung nor LG FRU. my screen FRU is 42T0329 What I got seems OK to me except at 1920 X 1280 the icons and fonts are too small to be useable, so I changed it to 1280 X 1024. 1280x1024? not native resolution and not...

High performance and no heat is a combination that doesn't really match, but still i seen models from HP that is pretty quiet even if good performance/pretty high spec. By default in Windows and Linux (I've tried each) the OS keeps parking and unparking the hard drive. This is very very bad for the drive because each time it does this it adds another cycle and it can only last 600,000 cycles (mine's at 760,000!). This leads to the drive failing prematurely, usually...

seagate 7200rpm 100gb drive about to die

look at the load cycle count, it's 759584. under 600000 is considered safe. also there's a lot of "pre-fail" statuses. i've been running ubuntu linux and i didn't know that it aggressively parks the hard drive about 10 times a minute! need a replacement, preferably a 200gb 7200rpm drive. no, the BIOS doesn't support booting from SD card. i don't think it is possible to format a bootable SD card either. if you really want to use XP pro 32 bit you could use BartPE to create a live XP CD, or just install XP 32 bit on your hard drive.
