Yeah, I was going to try Craigslist first, then probably post it on the marketplace here at the same time.
eBay sucks but just so everyone knows, PP has increased the time to file a dispute to 180 days on their end, separate from eBay's claim deadline.

Re: What's my tablet worth? X230t i5 8gb etc
Any even seemingly minor cosmetic defect has a major negative impact on value. The market has no soul or conscience. Agreed, but this is a defect that basically happens on 99% of these units. Not like an outlier or anything. Apart from that minor defect I was hoping for around $500, but much to my ...

Anyone actually tried these keyboards because they are actually quite nice and nothing like the usual chiclet keyboards. Speed typing isn't a problem. My only complaint is that they are fragile.

Your major handicap: the off-the-wall keyboard layout.

I sell software as my job. Forget Windows 7 Ultimate unless you want to cough up a couple hundred bucks. There are lots of copies of Vista Ultimate, however, for reasonable prices ($30-50). And like TuuS said, Vista Ultimate with service packs is a lot like 7.

What's my tablet worth? X230t i5 8gb etc
Hi, exploring the worth of my x230 tablet (cause I'll probably be consolidating two thinkpads to a bigger HP Elitebook since I would like a bigger laptop and hate the touchpads on the new Lenovos) and thought I'd pop in and see what the experts think: X230 tablet 3434-CTO Core i5 3320M @2.6ghz 8gb R...

You'll be fine. Heck, you'd be OK if it had been dropped naked, but in this case, it was in a nice padded box. Unit was off, so no hard drive damage, in a box, so no shock damage.

Thanks for the info. Looks look my clumsy mistake will cost me, money and time to replace the part. I bet these tablet bezels aren't as simple to replace as a regular laptop's, which I've done before.

X220 repair, tab that separates screen from keyboard? PIC
I have a x220 tablet with an attached battery slice. A couple weeks ago, I dropped it, and while the battery slice took the brunt of the scratches and marks, one of the tabs that holds the screen above the keyboard snapped off. I have attached a picture of the damage. Anyone know which part should b...

I actually finally managed to install the freaking software. Not sure it was anything I did, maybe one more try was what it took. Also took a couple tries to get the preload customization to install correctly (!). But it is finally running and the new SSD is amazingly fast :) Now I just need to dele...

Re: w520 FHD
If you are a designer or photographer, stay away from the FHD display. It will oversaturate anything in sRGB profile and there is no way to compensate for this in most applications, or in Win 7. Only Photoshop or other specialized applications can handle the display, and it's inaccurate, in any case.

X220 tablet R/R error: "The DVD you are using is not..."
So I order an X220 tablet off eBay and decided to install an SSD in the msata slot and reload Win 7 Pro 64 bit on the SSD. Here's where I run into problems. 1st off, I burned the recovery discs, which were verified by the program as fine. Pulled HDD, attached external USB CDRW/DVDRW drive, and boote...

Calibration refers to often minor corrections that make a photo look the same on your monitor as other...

It would be interesting to see if you're right, and it's possible to create a Frankenpad W510 or W520 with the dreamcolor 2 screen and full color space control.

Clutching at straws there to diss the panels, Oliver I've had uniformly bad experiences with Dell. Mostly caused by their crappy system software, but that's all you have to work with. Truth is that all professional monitors, AFAIK, are 30 bit or better. I see no compelling reasons to choose the Del...

Re: 【FS】HP8540w Dream Color2 Panel Sealed in Box
I don't think there is any way this panel would successfully work on any Lenovo. For one, the display gets driven by the 30 bit output in the 8540w, and all other laptops would have 24 bit output. Also, you need HP's special software to select and tune color spaces. Without this software, you would ...

Re: [Confirmed] First HP, now Dell offering IPS option. Lenovo?
I see that. It's on the new M6600 and M4600. Not on the 4500 or 6500. However, I read somewhere that these will be 24 bit displays. All true professional imaging monitors, including the Dreamcolor 2 on the HP, are capable of 30 bit color or better. I believe some of the EIZOs can do 12 or 14 bits pe...

This is a fantastic system at an amazing price. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I didn't already have the big brother 8740w. Heck, I'm still tempted to take a stab at this bad boy. The Dreamcolor 2 is the single best laptop screen out there, bar none.

Re: Gorilla glass or Multitouch X220 tablet?
I'm not trying to argue with you, but I use my X201 in a car stand and sunny weather pretty much overwhelms the screen. And that's inside the car. Forget reading the display in full sunlight. I think they had a daylight visible screen option; maybe that's what you have?

Re: Gorilla glass or Multitouch X220 tablet?
On my multi-touch X201 tablet, the layers desaturate colors slightly and decrease viewing angles significantly (not color shifts, it just gets darker and harder to see at an angle). The top layer is glossy and there's a lot of glare, making the display virtually unreadable in sunlight.

Re: w520 vs w510 display
I think there would be some problems beyond merely fit. The HP panel is a 10 bit per channel panel and probably requires 30 bit output from the graphics card. It also uses HP designed software to switch between color spaces on the fly.

I've always thought that CUA is nonsense, overall. Unless you are buying the $1500 graphics card, it can't possibly make a difference in your day to day computing.

I bet the 1000M is pretty similar, a little less powerful perhaps, than the 880m in the W510. I think you'll be perfectly fine. I know the whole CUDA thing has got everyone excited, but how much of a difference is this really going to make to the average user, even when editing video? I would think ...

doesn't look like they were emphasizing photography in particular, or the FHD screen as appropriate for it. The ISV certification is to ensure reliable operation of professional software. One thing I like about Lenovo's: stable and practically no crashes/blue screens in a year.

Wow, this topic attracted a lot of passion! I never saw the photography-geared advertising myself, but I'm sure it was nothing but nonsense. A full gamut screen simply isn't necessary for 95% of photography. More important, in my opinion, is accurate black levels and contrast. But for the first time...
