Sleep not working in Windows 7 x200T
Sleep/Standby is no longer working on my Win7 Pro X200T. It worked fine until recently. Now if I use any means to introduce sleep (close lid, FnF4, click sleep, etc.) the HD does something, the screen goes blank, but it does not sleep. The screen remains blank and there is nothing to do but a hard s...

Harryc, Thanks so much for the links! I think that is the way to go. Do you think lenovo would cover this under warranty?

Re: x61s RAM Screw Won't Unsrew... it just spins and spins!
Yes, the screw is captive in the cover. If I drill it out, I won't have a screw there, which would make the cover stick out a bit I think. I think by two options are to (a) use the warranty or (b) take the whole motherboard out. How hard is it to take the whole motherboard out to change the ram? I a...

x61s RAM Screw Won't Unsrew... it just spins and spins!
So I get 2x2GB=4GB DDR2 ram for my x61s (which now has 2x1=2GB dual channel), and went to unscrew the ram plate and install the ram. I have done this procedure on many other thinkpads, so I don't think it is going to be difficult. But when I go to unscrew the second screw (farthest to the right when...

Atreides,
I need a battery for my x61s. Where did you get your battery, and how much did it cost?
Thanks,
Aris

Re: should i upgrade to X200 tablet from x61t
UPGRADE! I had the X61t for about 2 years, and the x200t for about 5 months. I use it everyday. On paper, the differences seem slight, but in reality the x200t is WAY BETTER! The inking and touch is much improved, the sound is much better, and the screen brightness is much better as well. Battery li...

Fn-F7 Switching Monitors on Win 7 RTM and x200T
Hi, I use my X200t for a lot of presentations, and need to switch among many monitors and monitor resolutions constantly. The Presentation Director used to help with this (especially in tablet mode when I do not have access to Fn-F7), but at least I could open up the computer and press Fn-F7. Now, W...

Timer-Standby on Power Manager Doesn't work x61t
Hi, For a while now, even after uninstalling and reinstalling the Lenovo Powermanager software (in Vista), the computer does not go into standby when the 15 minute idle time is reached on battery. Instead, the X61t waits until it is at 10% to go into standby (since that is the emergency alarm settin...

Green "LCD brightness" bars: stop from showing all
Hi, I have the same issue with all 3 machines. I work from my laptop (an X61t, X31 and/or T42) on battery all day, and have the monitor turn off after 1 min to save juice (in meetings, etc.). This is a great way to work, since I don't need to haul around the power brick and plug in at every meeting....

Installing a New 320 GB Hard Drive, New Pull Tab?
Hi, I'm installing a new hard drive into my x61t and I noticed the thinkpad video shows a "pull tab" on the old hard drive that needs to be pulled on to get the old one out. How do you transfer the pull tab to the new hard drive? http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-62795.html Thanks, Aris

Vista safe-mode works, nothing else does; strip all drivers?
Hi, THE PROBLEM: My X61T is having trouble. After Azureus crashed the system about a dozen times requiring a hard reboot, Vista crashes upon loading now. When vista loads, it looks fine, but if I click on anything I get a pale while screen overlay sating the process must end. Now vista only loads in...

I've had an X61t since Sept 2007 and an X31 since it originally came out. THE X31 IS SUPERIOR IN ALMOST EVERY RESPECT. It is lighter, quieter, better keyboard and trackpoint, cooler, smaller, works with NHC, better battery (X61 gets same battery life with huge 8 cell, much less with 4 cell), the X31...

When I press the gray mute button on the upper left of the keybaord, and then go into tablet mode, I am unable to turn the sound on using the tablet shortcut menu (which can be accessed with the black key in between the esc and flip buttons on the lcd). I always have to take it out of tablet mode an...

X61t "Power off display" & Fn-F3 not working
Hi,
I have an X61t, and the power off display feature (under power manager) and Fn-F3 do not actually do anything. I have Fn-F3 set right under the power manager, so why isn't it working? Does it turn off your display?

All my DVD and Divx and Quicktime videos are really blocky and pixelated, especially at fully screen (not so much when the window is small). X61T inking problem: cut off end of words, bad for education
This is driving me nuts, since I try to use my tablet to lecture in front of 100 students, but can't do it effectively. The end of about 25% of the words I ink into journal or onenote get cut off. When I am writing with the pen on my multitouch XGA X61, the end or words don't appear. So when I pen i...

It's an OEM preload, with all drivers updated. It is some sort of a driver issue with Vista I imagine, but I don't know what it might be. I just reinstalled the trackpoint driver, but it didn't make any difference. So I'm now in the habit of sleeping the computer every time I switch from tablet to l...
