In the "real ol' days" we used a 770x to warm our knees - still got the burn marks to show!!!

Re: Questions about R50P Upgrade-QXGA and CPU
I have successfully completed the upgrade and the R50p now sports a bright QXGA panel and for good measure has an upgraded M765 CPU. If you'd like to see the result please view http://picasaweb.google.com/ivories.whiteparish/ThinkPads02 When I was working with Hi-res panels many years ago, we talked...

Re: Wanted Brand New QUality QXGA IPS IAX 10N or S panel
I am sorry that this has taken a while, but I finally have a few photos of the QXGA panel in operation. When I was working on hi-res panels many years ago, we always talked of the benefits in terms of either Quantity or Quality. If you follow this link http://picasaweb.google.com/ivories.whiteparish...

Re: Wanted Brand New QUality QXGA IPS IAX 10N or S panel
Success!!
The panel has been installed and I have an R50p (QXGA) to play with.
The panel has a little light leakage, but once Windows boots up with its light background, nothing amiss is visible.
I shall look out the camera and hope to post some pictures in a few days.

Re: Wanted Brand New QUality QXGA IPS IAX 10N or S panel
Thank you for the interest in my project.
The panel has arrived and looks to be the 'real deal'. The labeling is all correct, so I'm hopeful.
The inverter and cable are now on their way from the US, so when they arrive I can get on with the upgrade.

Re: Wanted Brand New QUality QXGA IPS IAX 10N or S panel
Thanks for the responses.
I have found a source for the panels in the UK.
I have bought one and it should arrive today.
The other parts are on order so I'm on track to upgrade an R50p to QXGA.

I think that I now have all that is needed for the upgrade;
- R50p in-hand,
- panel should arrive today from a UK source,
- inverter and cable on order from the US.

Re: Questions about R50P Upgrade-QXGA and CPU
Apologies for resurrecting an old post.
I have an R50p and will hopefully have in the next few days a QXGA panel.
Would someone please point me at the post for "the QXGA upgrade on the R50P by pianowizer and others" referred to in the first post of this thread.
Thank you very much.

Did this result in the acquisition of a QXGA IPS panel? If so at what price?
I am interested in mod-ing a R50p from UXGA to QXGA.
Thank you.

Re: A30p power management problems
Thank you for the contributions. Success on the Catch-22 situation!!!! I am using a TP-Link861N and it was the driver supplied by TP-Link that was causing the situaton. When I updated to the chipset drivers, Atheros AR922X, all started to work. As Adda suggested, I think that I have a mechanical pro...

Re: A30p power management problems
Thank you for the contributions. I think that I have made some progress, but have not solved what looks like a Catch-22. The only substantive hardware change I have made is to upgrade the Mini-PCI Wireless Lan Card. So I did a fresh install of WinXP but did NOT install the drivers for the upgraded c...

Re: A30p power management problems
Please may I try a different approach to this issue.
Would someone with a A30p-WinXP system that is properly handling Power Management be willing to compare systems and identify any differences that I can learn from?
If so, please PM me to start a conversation.
Thank you.

A30p power management problems - Resolved
I just acquired an A30p in very good condition. I love the UXGA screen, even better than the 770x-SXGA. So far I have - replaced the HDD with a faster, larger model - replaced the mini-PCI wireless card with a TP-Link N model (also used in my x30 with no problems) - increased the memory to 1GB - loa...

Re: Thinkpad 560X LCD panel, is it custom or generic?
Compgeke, What terrible bad luck for that to happen to a 560x. I have a 560x to remind me of the days when it and I traveled to the IBM Yamato Lab as part of my work. On one trip, the panel in my 560x died, so it was straight round to the flat-panel group to have it fixed. I learned that there were ...

Re: 701 Torex T1 screws - wanted for rebuild
Thank you for the most helpful reply. The thread (pun not intended!!) you pointed me at was interesting, particularly since I used to wor...

[CLOSED] 701 Torex T1 screws - wanted for rebuild
Hello, Would anyone be able to help me obtain a set of the 4 tiny screws from the front of a 701? Mine have stripped and are stopping me completing the rebuild of my venerable 701c. It is of sentimental value to me, because John Karidis, the designer of the Butterfly keyboard, was a work colleague o...

Re: HDD caddy for Japan only IBM 5538
Please can one of our Japanese members help me. I am looking for the 2nd HDD caddy to go into my PC Stream (5538-VWD). This uses the same caddy as for the ThinkPad models such as M23V, C23V and TP550/555BJ. I think that these are Japan only machines. The reference says that "the caddy is almost the ...

[CLOSED] x30 and x31/2 keyboard compatibility
There are different P/Ns for the x30 and x31/2 keyboards. However the parts look identical.
Would someone like to either confirm or deny that they are indeed compatible.
Thank you in advance for your help.
