@dr_st, thank you!

Code: Select all

It's not as smooth as other programs and the scrolling icon doesn't activate. But horizontal, vertical scroll is working reliably.

T60p, trackpoint not working for Firefox only

I just got a T60p working on Windows XP. Yeah, it's old school but hey, it's the T6x series. I've been having a weird issue where the trackpoint scrolling functionality isn't working when I am using Firefox. It works flawlessly in IE8, windows explorer, and other applications. I've already updated S...

Re: T420 and Ivy Bridge and bios-mod

I googled the filename referenced in post 1 and based on the info I found on the original author's site, it unlocks advanced features in BIOS but does NOT enable Ivy Bridge support. There is a BIOS for use with CoreBoot that DOES allegedly enable Ivy Bridge support, but based on what I've seen, you...

I agree. Windows 7 Pro offers everything you will ever need. If you need encryption, look into truecrypt, a great alternative to bitlocker. With windows 7 pro, you get a less bloated OS but with pretty much the same expanded features as ultimate. Additional features include support for Multilingual ...

Re: [Debian] Thinkfan Installation Guide + Configuration Tutorial

I cannot be certain, as I use T430, not T420, and Linux Mint instead of vanilla Debian, but on my laptop it certainly is not true (and I would assume T420 and T430 share basically the same hardware, just like Mint operates on the same software as Debian, being based on it). When I dumped Linux Mint...

[Debian] Thinkfan Installation Guide + Configuration Tutorial

Hi everyone. This community has been extremely helpful to me and I've decided to write a beginner friendly guide to installing and configuring thinkfan. I've been running thinkfan on my T420 Debian 8 setup for about 2 months now, and it's been running great. Although this package is not required, I ...

Re: Your Favorite Desktop Environments

As a Linux noob, I'm using Linux Mint 17.2 with Cinnamon. It's Ubuntu-based and the desktop is close to basic Mac/Windows desktops. I'm running it on a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, and Lenovo has excellent Linux support. Everything works right from the install - no fuss/no muss. Nice! I like cinnamon. It has...

Adjusting the boot brightness?

Is it possible to adjust the default brightness that you see from the beginning? I don't know about your machine, but from the initial screen with "Thinkpad" and system info splash screen, it's super bright (at max setting). I'd like to conserve battery and also avoid the flashbang effect to save my...

Re: Your Favorite Desktop Environments

What's one feature that you cannot live without?

To me, the windows snapping feature is indispensable. For example, in Gnome, if I drag to the left, the window will snap and fill 50% of the screen (much like the behavior in Windows 7+). That way, I can have a document open and a browser open, 50/50.

USB 3.0 is only available if the laptop itself supports it (limiting its use to Ivy-bridge equipped ThinkPads, e.g. T430). My understanding is that the USB 3.0 port on the dock will behave as USB 2.0 on such laptops. You should be able to drive two monitors from the dock (e.g. DisplayPort and DVI s...

The culprit was auto scroll utility. UltraZoom and auto scroll are tied together. Simply reinstalling UltraZoom didn't fix the problem. But uninstalling "lenovo auto scroll utility" AND "ultrazoom" and reinstalling them both fixed it!
