X230 or X230 Tablet? I assume you mean the tablet, because you mentioned '3-cell'. These are rare. Regular X230 batteries are somewhat easier to come by.

Yes, I tried swapping from AHCI to compatible mode, that didn't change anything. You may need to use the trick of editing your registry offline, as described here: https://www.wintips.org/fix-inaccessible-boot-device-0x0000007b-stop-error/ Make sure pciide and msahci are both enabled to auto-start ...

Re: W510 Windows upgrades fail
The W510 system drive on the W520 crashes with a BSOD 7B This says boot problem. Did you go into the BIOS and change the SATA configuration from whatever it is to the other one (AHCI/Compatibility)? Win10 will not activate using the Win7 product key inside the battery compartment... Yes, I think th...

Re: Dug my x60s out of storage, it needs a lot of love
Fan / heatsink replacement is not that big of a deal, and in many cases noise can be reduced and life prolonged without replacement, just by some lubrication. Therefore, I assume you refer to something else when you mention 'bigger issues'. These systems aren't getting any younger, that's true. BTW,...

Welcome to the forum. :) While there exist enthusiast/hobbyist projects where a modern motherboard was specifically designed to fit inside a classic Thinkpad shell, I do not know of such a project targeting the T400. And since the T400 was the last of its line to carry this particular design, you ca...

Re: To SIM card or not to Sim
Not once could I find a use for the built-in SIM card slot of a laptop. I guess if you are on-the-go a lot, and if your provider is willing to give you a second SIM for free / cheaply, or you can get a cheap data plan, then it can be useful, if only for not depending on your phone.

Re: Did anyone get a x210ai from tpart.net?
I'm not trying to convince you or anyone else to run Win11 when they have reasons not to; as I said, I myself would not run it on hardware that predates it significantly. It is not even Microsoft's lack of optimization that is the main culprit (although it is one of). It is more that hardware vendor...

Nice! It may be hard for me to judge because of small difference in angle/lighting, but the biggest difference I see are in the keyboard keys, especially on the T30.

Re: Did anyone get a x210ai from tpart.net?
Windows 11 has way more bloat than 10, and you will absolutely notice the performance difference, especially if you're using an older computer. You can get it debloated with some work, but with how much Microsoft has been touting their use of AI in programming Windows recently, I wouldn't exactly t...

Has anyone been using Win 11 with heavier Excel workloads, and if so, how has stability been? Did audio work before? Then you can try to roll back to an older driver.
Which sound devices are present in the sound control panel (mmsys.cpl) and which one is selected?

Re: T520 vs T420: Did I Choose the Right One?
Welcome to the forum. :) T520 is the same thing as T420, only bigger. Battery life will be essentially the same. The larger screen may consume slightly more battery, but other factors will have a bigger effect. Stock T520 can be had with higher resolution (1920x1080 vs 1600x900 max for T420). To me ...

Re: T60 Upgrading Advice
Welcome to the forum. :) To understand what upgrades may be worthwhile, first we'd need to know the exact hardware of the machine. A good place to start is the MTM (model type number) which should be on the sticker at the bottom. It would normally start with 195* or 200* or 26*, or 63* or 874*. Ther...

OK, I see I'm now getting the same problem with this file. Maybe it's corrupt. Let me search for another source. Edit: OK, the official download from Lenovo, which is a different version , gives the same error, so I suppose it's not a locally corrupt file issue. Try manually installing the driver, b...
