The hotfix content is actually similar to the drivers from lenovo. jpkeisala, if you want to try the hotfix, get it from here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111

I have the same problem, the multiburner in my Z60t cannot recognize CD-R disk. I am using TDK with manufacturer ID = "CMC Magnetics" which supports 12X to 48X speed. I haven't rang IBM or Lenovo yet,... do you think I should? they may have firmware upgrade... Never had problem with this CD-R before...

I had the same problem when installing windows fresh for my z60t. Luckily I had a backup of C: drive before I reinstall, so I still have access to the DRIVERS folder. I found that I had to install the included driver before I can install the 77a215ww. I can send the driver to you if you want, ... I ...
