Re: BREAKING NEWS: T61 nVidia thinkpads now being repaired N/C
eecon, you seem to be typing faster than reading ;-) - I just wrote that I DID experience the fault myself ( here , in case you can't scroll up). I'm currently trying to fight my way through CS Lenovo team in Poland who seem to treat any claims as a breach of their blissful state of peace of mind......

Re: BREAKING NEWS: T61 nVidia thinkpads now being repaired N/C
Yikes! I wasn't aware of this peculiarity. Keep it hot at a constant!? I might not be a road warrior but I'd rather use my system in such a hassle free way that reflects its price and that means in case of T61p - 'fire and forget' way. I can do such staff with my older Thinkpad models - hold the mb ...

Re: BREAKING NEWS: T61 nVidia thinkpads now being repaired N/C
@pit1337 My T61p died later last year and CS in Poland denied servicing it free of charge as I wasn't already covered at that time (guarantee expired Aug 2010). Drawing on eecon's post (no linking as it's been mentioned earlier in this thread) and with Mark_Lenovo's help I'm waiting now for a reply ...

Re: Problems on a T42 Mint/XP dual boot
If grub shows up why don't you first try changing your VGA settings. Just edit the start line by asking your card for the valid display mode list. (add vga=ask (this should give you a list of valid display modes for your card) to the command line. If it doesn't do the job then why don't you run LM i...

Having read and admired your impressive collections I now feel a bit less guilty and able to give you my list of "guilt items": 1. T61p (WUXGA HD, XP & Ubuntu) - this baby has just been for a week on my desk and I love it (though I do admit - no longer real TP...maybe because of the wide screen?) - ...

I checked with the Hitachi Feature Tool that it's possible to resize the maximum reported capacity to 60GB What on earth are you talking about? Well, I'm puzzled. I reckon the language is not a problem here so what is that you don't understand? Take a look at my reply to mamamia's post and perhaps ...

Re: no problem
i actually don't think you have a hidden partition. you didn't buy new, Well, the way I actually set my system to new was to recover it from HP, so I *DO* have it. All the algebra you've presented makes sense but that doesn't explain what the proprietary IBM/Hitachi software presents me with - to r...

7k60 maximum capacity and HP
My T41p came with a 60GB 7200 drive (7k60), Win XP Pro + HP. Its capacity is reported (by the system) to be 57GB though. I checked with the Hitachi Feature Tool that it's possible to resize the maximum reported capacity to 60GB but I'm afraid to destroy the hidden recovery partition or any other dat...
