Until you've done a complete CHKDSK, don't say the hard disk is bad. The drive very well could be bad, but most likely, it's the Windows install that's bad.

If you don't have time to do a CHKDSK, then I'd simply change the HD's status from "Bad" to "not guaranteed" and/or needs new OS.

That is the third hard drive I have put into the laptop and if you look at the pics one of them is of a check disk running
