I'm putting a somewhat poor condition IBM X23 up for sale. I don't have it with me directly, it is stored with someone, but if you buy it I'll have it shipped out to you. The battery is dead and cannot be shipped via post, the keyboard is Japanese and English. If I recall correctly the hinges are a bit loose, there is a crack with some duct tape near one hinge. The screen stands up but it is loose. The palmrest is sticky for some reason, it is probably due to the old age of the laptop. It boots to the bios, I got a brand new 100 GB 7200 RPM HDD installed, but didn't get to installing the OS. I have the recovery images for it, but to use them you'd need to have the docking station, or to update the bios so you can use a USB CD-ROM.

Comes with the OEM power adapter, that works. Screen bezel has a thin little crack in the lower left of the screen. The screen may have a dead pixel, I am unsure.
I am mainly selling this for the power adapter and HDD, and the rest although working can be considered for parts. Also, I think the original installed ram is like 256 mb, but I believe I also installed 512 mb extra. This model is getting hard to come by now.


Asking $55 Canadian, which is approx. $45 US and will ship this within Canada or to the US for whatever the postage cost will be, probably around $20-$25 CAD with tracking for Canada. Probably around $30 - $35 CAD to the states.

So $55 CAD + shipping, and with a new 100 GB 7200 RPM IDE HDD, and OEM IBM power adapter (which is worth the price alone).

Just wanted to mention, I clarified some things in the description, I also lowered the price, and am offering shipping to the US also. Hopefully someone wants or needs this model which is getting harder to come by. I may be able to negotiate the price just a little bit so send me a PM! Hoping I can sell it to a forum member instead of posting on eBay (again).

I lowered the price, keep in mind that the hdd alone cost over $30, I believe it is 100 GB 7200 RPM. Also the AC adapter can be used on all kinds of older ThinkPad models.
This may be the last call before this goes into the recycling bin, it's actually being kept for me in a different city and I don't want to trouble the person any longer by holding it on for me.

The 100GB 7200rpm drive surely is a old gem. I think I had one of the series, but with 60GB capacity, on my T41p.

I only have one machine old enough to have a PATA / IDE connector. And that's an old K6-2+ (or K6-3+, I'm not sure) I keep for sentimental reasons. It was the first series of processors with on-die cache, in one of the few instances of AMD beating intel. Some of them even had L3.

In my 'best' days I had maybe ~60 Thinkpads at any given time, now I'm down to 5 in the family.

That's why I buy now the 12.1" models, they're easier to store (just kidding)

I have my TPs neatly stored in few cabinets, so they don't take THAT much of space, but now I need to be careful, the wife started complaining...

Nope, those are missing in my collection. I know they're Asia-only models but I never managed to get my hands on one of those

Final update: X23 arrived safe and sound, well packaged and exactly as described!
