The Targus/Port case is like this one on the IBM site:
http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/store ... &storeId=1
It has the Port Air protection system in the laptop compartment.
The other case has no padding. It's a simple leather zip up portfolio with a Thinkpad logo on it.

The slim Targus/Port case is almost universally acclaimed for having the best laptop protection in a "standard" case with its wrap around air cushions on the bottom and ends, and the elastic velcro strap that secures the laptop.
However, the top opening of the case is almost universally decried among women due to the fact that they consider it a "nail breaker" when getting the laptop out.
Just something to keep in mind if you're considering purchasing it for a female.
Regards,
James
