Something wrong with R series?
Something wrong with R series?
I've been following this forum for a couple of weeks. I'm about to pull the trigger on a 15 inch R51, but i'm mildly concerned at the palty amount of activity on the R series topic. In investingating prices on the web, I find that a nicely equipped R series, say with 15 SXGA+, Radeon 9000, DVD/CDRW, 1.6 Mhz Pentium M, Intel 2200BG wireless and firewire goes for considerably less than the T series, even factoring in the additonal cost of extended warranty. The only cons seem to be plastic case, an additional pound, and a 4200 rpm hdd. I am missing something?
Theres not much in it size wise as the T42p with the 15" screen is thicker as well as longer/wider so if there is a significant price diference i would probably opt for the R50p - optical drive updates but likely be a lot cheaper in the future too as its not the slim drives in the R50. Obviously though if your main concern is portability (ie carrying it about a lot) then a little difference can make a lot of difference so you should go for the T series.
