Hello,
On my new Thinkpad I have an issue where I need to put extra pressure on the trackpoint buttons in order for them to work, if the pressure is too low the buttons will start bouncing. I figured this was a defect with my unit and got a replacement, but the issue is still present on that one too. I expected that when I hold down a button that it stays registered as held until I release enough pressure for it to click. I have this exact same issue on my other Thinkpad and another Thinkpad I examined. It's really frustrating to use the trackpoint to scroll because if I stop pushing hard enough at any moment the cursor will start jerking around instead of scrolling. This issue pertains to all the trackpoint buttons but the middle click is the most important to me.
So I am wondering how widespread is this issue and should I ask for another replacement? I only found one other post about this but I'm still not sure if Lenovo treats this as a QC issue.
