Based on some recent patterns, I suspect the purpose of the registration was to send fake "for sale" offers to members via private messages, in order to scam them to send money to their "friend's" email, for a product that does not exist.

If you received such a message - exercise good judgment and to not engage in any interaction with the spammer/scammer.
