RediSafe Questions on ThinkPad

My model is X31.

I am now testing the REDiSAFE function on ThinkPad. I will do the following steps:
1. Make sure that REDiSAFE is enabled.
2. Let the computer go into suspend mode by pressing Fn+F4
3. When the computer is in suspend mode, remove both the AC power and the battery.
4. Leave the computer alone for several seconds, then install the battery and plug the AC jack.
5. Turn on the computer and see what is going to happen.

Result:
The system promotes for Power-on password and HDD password. Windows XP starts normally while I was supposed to see it resumed from hibernation.

Conclusion:
1. REDiSAFE does not function at all.
2. I misunderstand the function of REDiSAFE

RediSafe suspend mode
In RediSafe suspend mode, all tasks are stopped, and memory data and the status of the computer are stored on the hard disk drive. This prevents accidental loss of data during suspend mode. Resuming normal operation is faster in RediSafe suspend mode than it is in hibernation mode; the computer resumes normal operation when you press the Fn key in RediSafe suspend mode. If all battery power is used and the computer turns off during RediSafe suspend mode, install a fully charged battery pack or connect the AC Adapter; then press the power switch to resume operation. All tasks are restored. Create the hibernation file before using this mode. (See "Creating the Hibernation File".) Note: all ThinkPads do not support RediSafe mode. Refer to your user's guide to see if yours supports RediSafe.

To enable RediSafe suspend mode, first, create the hibernation file; then set RediSafe suspend in the ThinkPad Features program's Battery menu. For more information, see the ThinkPad Features program online help, or use PS2 commands.

Probably a stupid question, but did you create the hibernation file first? You didn't explicitly say that you did.

Sorry for that.
Every ThinkPad with factory setting has the ability to enter hibernation mode, that's why I omit the point.
OK. Let me check again. Perfect Disk tells me that there is a large file of size exactly 512M on Driver C; When I press Fn+F12, my ThinkPad does enter the hibernation mode; Battery Maximiser does tell me that hibernation is enabled.
Do these evidences say that I have already created the hibernation file?
