New user with questions: LCD panel replaced under warranty

My backlight is on its last wing and an IBM tech is coming to replace it. My question is... what exactly are they replacing? I have read that IBM normally replaces the whole lcd cover rather than only the backlight. Is this true?

I sent my T23 in last year under warranty and they changed the whole top. They also gave me a new keyboard, bezel cover, and pointer cover. 8)

They dont even answer my emails to repair my T42
