Which is more durable?

#1 Post by ghp542 » Sun Mar 05, 2006 7:29 pm

I am thinking about upgrading my travel laptop from a 240x to either x22 or x??. My question is, whch machine is the more durable, my old 240x or a new x?? series?

Durablitly is the issue here because it will be carried on my motorcycle and it also need to be small to save space.

Thanks

George in TN

Depends. Thicker laptops are more likely to service being stepped on or something of that nature because they are thicker and more protected. However, a lighter X4x series would probably have better chance of surviving a fall because when it hits the ground, it has less weight to compress into it.

I have owned two 240's (almost identical to the 240X), two X20's, and an X40, and think the 240 is the most durable. The 240 also has the smallest form factor, though slightly heavier than the X40 (2.95 lbs vs. 2.75 lbs).
