Just wondering, I want to use my T42 in the car and would like a DC connection. I have seen IBM's adaptor, but am thinking of getting an inverter that would power other things
Do you have to use a Pure Sine inverter with a T42
What brand and size do you use?
Thanks

I use a Port inverter. It does not produce a pure sine wave (that is very pricey to do), but it works perfectly with my T41. ... JD Hurst
Note: Do not be fooled by claims of pure sine. I have an HP 200 CDR in the basement that produces sine waves with 0.2 percent distortion over the range from 20 Hz to 200 kHz. That was a pricey piece of gear in its day.

One thing I'd keep in mind is that there are SOME UPS's which are "self starting" and therefore are essientially self contained inverters. Because UPS's are getting so popular, they are cheaper /per... that some specialized inverters.
You could buy an inverter with adequate output power, and IF the thing is powered by 12V (as opposed to 12+6, or maybe 24) you can easily adapt the DC (battery) connection to an auto.
