I was reading a post in the Legacy forum about upgrades to a TP 310ED and got interested in dusting off an old Acer Extensa 610CDT of mine and trying something similar. Much to my surprise, I soon realized that apparently my Extensa 610 was, for most intents and purposes, the exact same system as the 310ED.
This got me wondering which TP models were built by Acer. I had heard a little bit about the i-series, but didn't realize that there were others.
Thanks...

I don't believe that Acer made any more Thinkpad models for IBM as I think they were only licensed to do so for the i Series. I didn't get a good look at the insides of the last 310 nor was I able to compare it to an Extensa.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Based on my experience taking apart a couple of Extensa 610 series and from a quick look at the TP 310 HMM, I can definately see more than a passing resembalance. The biggest differences are the boxier plastics on the TP, the TrackPoint (Acer uses a Synaptics TouchPad) and the indicator lights (something I missed on the Extensa).christopher_wolf wrote:I don't believe that Acer made any more Thinkpad models for IBM as I think they were only licensed to do so for the i Series.
