This might belong in another forum, but it has to do with both T30s and T4x and better ThinkPads, so I put it here.
I've been noticing that processor speeds of 2 GHz and better can be found on T30s, but the highest I usually see on a T4x is 1.6 GHz.
Why is this? And what are the relative advantages and disadvantages of getting a T30 or a T4x? Thanks.

Computers do exactly what you tell them at amazing speeds; this can be bad if what you told them wasn't what you had in mind.

When you have a little time, here are some links with probably more information than you are looking for.

Re: Processors -- T30 v T4x and better
The best answer is that the T30s had P4-Ms and the later T4X Thinkpads had P-Ms; there is a difference in their overall performance as indicated by this comparison matrix. A P4-M, as found in the T30 for example, is roughly equivalent to the same speed P4; the P-Ms tend to match to higher clocked P4s at a lower clock. The advantage is that you get a little more "processing power" for lower power consumption, even though you might have a lower clock speed; another reason why clock speed isn't the end all and be all of CPU specs.Nigellus wrote:This might belong in another forum, but it has to do with both T30s and T4x and better ThinkPads, so I put it here.
