I own a Logitech MX610 laser cordless mouse, and I have a few questions for anyone who might use this-- or other wireless Logitech mice-- with their Thinkpads:
(1) do you install the Logitech Setpoint driver software, or just stick with the pre-installed Windows driver?
(2) do you ever have problems with a single-click registering as a double-click? I've been experiencing this particular issue with my MX610 and it's driving me NUTS. I've searched and read some other forums, and this seems to be a rather common problem-- very frustrating. Some say it derives from a mechanical issue with the mouse, and others with the proximity of the mouse to the receiver, among other explanations.
(3) this is the first Logitech mouse I've owned-- for those who have used this brand of pointing devices as well as others, what brand do you prefer, eg. Microsoft?
Thanks for any input.

i have a logitech G5/MX900/MX1000 (the last 2 are bluetooth), the only problem i have is that i use it through a usb kvm, as such i am unable to set custom dpi's as the G5 seems to reset its sensitivity.
leaving all the dpi settings as standard and i've not *touch wood* noticed any problem. the 2 BT mice work without a problem.
i use setpoint as it i'm able to customise button settings.
never had that single click issue, i did have a problem with my dinovo set and called logitech for a replace for the media pad, they didnt have the set i had so they sent me the updated version, hence the two BT mice. give logitech support a call about your mx610.
i had been a intellimouse optical 1.1 user for a good few years and was totally comfortable with that, but now, G5 all the way. i prefer the shape of the logitechs.

Logitech all the way since probably mid 90s.
I only ever installed their software once, BIG mistake. Since then I've always run them with the Windows mouse drivers. Currently on a wireless MX700 and a wired Wheel Mouse.

Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!

I use setpoint on an MX1000 here, works great through a KVM. I also use Logitech multimedia keyboards. I have a TP that is set for single click, I used this guide. I suppose you could use the guide and do the opposite.

I have both an MX and a VX Revolution that I use with my T60 (the MX is connected to my home office display's switching USB hub; it switches my mouse and USB keyboard to either my desktop PC or T60 when I switch video inputs. I use the VX when I'm traveling).
The Logitech software works just fine, remembering the custom settings for both mice. I've also installed uberOptions, which allows much greater customization of the buttons . . . an excellent add-on.
The trackpoint/pad aren't affected at all by the Logitech software, and I've had no problems . . . other than that my first VX was defective, and Logitech replaced it with one that works as advertised.

logitech's setpoint drivers do not affect the ultranav (trackpoint/pad) at all?
i have a T60 and have not installed drivers (under vista) for fear of screwing up my ultranav. i had noticed that the trackpoint drivers/settings were missing when i installed setpoint on my X41 (once again, under vista).
please confirm if you have setpoint and ultranav working ok under vista, please!

The version I've installed doesn't appear to have any effect on either the trackpoint or pad. Touch zones, scrolling, etc. all still work as expected, with our without the mouse attached.
When the software installs, a dialog pops up stating that a touch pad has been sensed so the software will be installed for the USB ports only.
