Lenovo has a standard procedure to send prepaid labels with all CRU's. However, return instructions would only be sent when it's required.
I encourage you to get in touch with lenovo and explain this scenario to them.Lenovo specifies in the materials shipped with a replacement CRU whether the defective CRU must be returned. When return is required, 1) return instructions , a prepaid return shipping label, and a container are included with the replacement CRU, and 2) you may be charged for the replacement CRU if your Service Provider does not receive the defective CRU within thirty (30) days of your receipt of the replacement.
Ofcourse they can. Lenovo keeps record of all communication with customers. The most they would do is to decline future warranty services to you. On a sidenote, you should always ask them when you're unsure about these matters.fartonmyear wrote:can they do anything?

You are probably going to have to send some kind of drive in or pay for the drive. In a way... this happened to me, I don't remember getting a Return label with the HD they shipped me since they shipped it overnight, I got the same letter you did telling me I would have to send in the drive or 180$. I called and they sent me a shipping label and instructions. You may squeak by if you explain you 'did not know the procedure' or were not told, but it's pretty common knowledge that the replacements parts (most of the time) need to be returned. Of course there are exceptions. Good luck.

Why is my P1 Gen 7 so much better on battery? Cool, quiet, fast — but not on AC.
