Hi everyone...
I'm new here and was hoping to find an answer to my problem. I recently bought my wife a New T430s and did the normal set-up of the PC. All went well and on the second day when I restarted there was a message stating that disk space on Q drive was low. It seems that the space that was allotted, approx 18GB was now down to 1.6GB. After reading what I could on this issue I made restore disks and can see where I can delete the Q drive but if possible I would like to keep it in the event that the disks fail to reload the operating system. I would be grateful to any help that can be given.
P.S. I hope this is the correct place to ask this question.

Re: Thinpad T430s shows Low disk space on Q drive
Welcome to thinkpads.com!
With a system as new as the T430s, I would vote to keep the Q: drive intact. As you say, even if you have already created the restore disk set, you may not have them available if/when something goes wrong with the OS and you need to re-install. Actually, I'd also duplicate those disks onto a second set, just in case
. To me, the restore partition loses its value over time. After a Service Pack release (or maybe two), along with the numerous system patches and updates that get issued, then that's the time to make an image or clone of your system and use that as a starting point when rebuilding.

Re: Thinpad T430s shows Low disk space on Q drive
Thanks for replying back, and for the welcome. Anyone with idea's why Q drive is using up more of the allotted space and now low on disk space. I haven't done anything that I know of to add content to that area. I have read where some say to shrink the C drive some and make the Q drive a bit larger but it seems pointless to do that if its going to continue to fill back up. I really need to find a way to fix this.
