Hello from new user, from Venezia Italy.
I've check this forum but not yet found a post to help me, but if I.m wrong, please exscuse me
I kindly ask Your help to find an alternative to the hard disk I found inside the Thinkpad 770 (see photo on http://sdrv.ms/1hISKR9 )
it'a a IBM DTCA-24090 E182115 P/N 73H7767 that has problem (several bad sec errors on mhdd check)
I see on ebay some HD the same as mine but, if fossible I would like a bigger one,
But I'm not shure what to look for, Eide ide ata?
Budget around 40€
Thanks for your precious suggestions
As I would like to keep this TP and put on DOS or old win95/98 as vintage and give a new life..
Luca

Welcome to the forum.
EIDE/IDE/ATA/PATA, they are all the same. (SATA is the different one, it does NOT have pins)
These 2.5" drives all have 44 pins on the connector side.
Your current IBM drive has 4GB/4000rpm.
But you can put in any other IDE drive, I've seen up to 160GB drives in that 770 series.
For your needs, I recommend a new 40GB/5400rpm drive with 8MB cache, made by Hitachi, Fujitsu or Toshiba.

Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!
