Could someone tell me what the last model Thinkpad that had a parallel port on it? It also has to be 32 bit.
I need the parallel port for my old dot matrix printer.
Tried the parallel to usb cable and it does not work with my program
What I am trying to do is purchase a fairly newer model that has this port.
Love the Thinkpads but I don't know my models.
Any help will be appreciated

Thank You
Arnie

T4x/R5x series have a parallel port on the chassis.

T6x/R6x series can have a native parallel port exposed via an Ultrabay adapter or via the Advanced Mini-Dock / Advanced Dock.

X6x series also have it via the Ultrabase.

Here is a list:

What about the T400 in a dock?
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/ThinkPad_Advanced_Dock

The machine is newer than those mentioned and includes a parallel port, though the physical interface is not exposed on the laptop. It is accessible via an additional dock -- they sell online for 10-15 euro.

It is not clear what exactly needs to be 32-bit. What needs to be 32-bit?

It will help if the cpu is 32 bit. Running Windows XP on a 64 bit will work also. The dos program is real finicky, I tried running it on a 64 bit windows and it would not work
We have our own business and my wife does the books. Her dos program is about 30 years old and there is no longer support for it. And trying to get her to use a newer windows program is out of the question.....she told me this :BAAAD!:
So I was trying to find the latest machine that still has a parallel port on the computer.

I am not that smart with computers so running the dock with it I thought I might have problems.

Any 64-bit CPU can run in 32-bit mode; it's the OS that matters.

*400/500 generation in the dock in theory should also work, but I could not find conclusive documentation about it.

Thanks for your reply. That's why I thought if it shows it on the laptop I feel like it will work rather than get a laptop then get a dock and find out it will not work.
