2nd HDD in slimbay verification errors
2nd HDD in slimbay verification errors
I installed 120GB disk (MHV2120AT). I have T43.
When I copied some files and did the file verification source and destination files were not the same. Any ideas?
I will make another test with 80 GB drive soon. But I think that 120 GB disk should not be a problem.
Thanks.
Saso

What kind of source verification test are you doing?
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Re: 2nd HDD in slimbay verification errors
At first I just started a copy operation of some files with 'verify' on (in Total Commander). Afther that I would do the binary compare.
After a surface test I copied some files and it looked ok. I will do more tests later today. Maybe a reboot would be required (because this is a brand new device to this system (XP pro 32bit)).
Will post back with the results.

Check that both drives are formatted the same!

And now 2nd HDD is not recognized anymore...during boot (when that "press that blue IBM button" appears) there is a delay - which would I say is caused by the system not recognising the 2nd HDD (or bay).

Try getting a new adapter. There is a good chance yours is trash.

Probably. It was used when I got it. At first it was ok. I am waiting for another delivery of a new one - but not original. It will generic PATA connector to motherboard and SATA to the disk. Will see.
Thanks.

How do you plan to connect a generic PATA connector in the Ultrabay?

Given that T43 already has a PATA to SATA converter, you are likely to run into issues by adding another converter which is included in the UltraBay adapter.
It's been a long time since I have last played with an unmodded T43, but I foresee problems with the route that you're taking.
Good luck.

Well... I thought of just installing it. I don't have many experiences. Are you saying that it might (will not?) work because of not being IBM's?

Looks like I will have to skip this, then.
So my only option is to get original bay?
Thanks.

Or do the SATA-mod, as described here and on my website, plus get an IBM/Lenovo 2nd caddy.
That way you can use a proper SATA drive (HDD or SSD) in the main drivebay and another one instead of the CD/DVD,
