Is Alcohol 120% burning software safe? (235 restore image)

Hi Everyone

I'm about to restore a 235 and I found the original restore floppy and CD on archive.org. However it's been made as an MDS/MDF file which says its for use with 'Alcohol' image/burning software.

I've never heard of it and never used it. If I download the (supposedly 100% usable) 15 day trial, chrome blocks is as dangerous....which I know is sometimes a false positive but generally I trust chrome to do it's job.

Has anyone installed it, is it OK to use or does someone else out there have a 235 image which doesn't need it?

Thanks

I found ImgBurn recognises the MDS file so I'm using that as an old reliable favourite of mine....

Alcohol 120% is great software, and safe, but not free... It is mostly useful for ripping / burning copy-protected CDs. For regular CDs, there is no reason to use MDF. In those cases, MDF seems to produce binary-equal files to standard BIN format.

Ah ok thanks. I wonder why Chrome false-flags it. It's not the fact it's an .exe because lots of others are fine...
