40A2 Dock - 4 wattages....

#1 Post by basscleff » Mon Oct 16, 2023 2:28 pm

Hi, puzzled about the 4 wattage versions of the 40A2 dock. My W540 needs the 170watt, but I'm puzzled as top why it matters, since the AC adapter is what is powering the dock and laptop.
Doesn't it just mean that the power supply to the dock needs to be a certain amount?

ie. Can you blow up a 40A2 dock (designed for a 65 or 90w) with a 135w or 170watt ac adapter?

Would any 40A2 dock work, as long as the proper power supply was used?

AFAIK, all 40A2 docks are the same, just the power supply differs.
