replace usb-c port (solder)

#1 Post by caffemusse » Sun Aug 18, 2024 1:25 pm

Hi,
I have now for the second time managed to ruin the USB-C/TB3 port on my laptop - currently an x390 yoga. Luckily there are 2 ports, but I fear the 2nd one also is pretty worn down and may fail- making my laptop unchargable. As it is out of warranty, and this port is soldered directly onto the mainboard (far too costly for this old laptop. I could just retire this laptop, but I believe in giving it a full life, and even though it is not the fastest laptop, it is perfect for me and my needs.
I do now know that any other ports on this laptop are able to charge it - please let me know if this would be possbile.
Therefore I am looking for suitable service partner that can resolder on to the mainboard a new USBc port. I am based in denmark, but mailing my laptop is a possibility if the price is low.

Can any one share / recommend such a repair shop/ service?
