What brand of thermal paste does Lenovo use?
What brand of thermal paste does Lenovo use?
hi
I bought these Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste 5 years ago. I think this paste is not very good because I have to repaste my T440p every year.
I read somewhere that Kryonaut is terrible for laptop, because it is not viscous enough for laptop's CPU.
What brand does Lenovo use? They seem to have good paste. My sister's 9-year-old Lenovo laptop has never had its thermal paste repaste, and it never get hot.

This comment from one of Lenovo's youtube videos say they're currently using PTM7958 on their Legion gaming laptops.

For most cases PTM7950 phase-change thermal pad is just as good: https://www.moddiy.com/products/Honeywe ... M-Pad.html. Used it in my newer Thinkpads back in 2023 and they're still good even now, with no noticeable degradation in cooling performance.
Had a bad experience with Kryonaut as well on my X220. You're lucky you only had to remove the bottom cover to repaste, mine needed a full disassembly every time.

If Kryonaut goes even once over 80 degrees Centigrade, it deteriorates almost immediately!
It's crap!
After going through various (expensive) thermal pastes, I also 'landed' on PTM7950 pads.
No more paste for me, EVER!

Yeah. I read laptop cpu require different type thermal paste than desktop cpu. So Kryonaut might work good in desktop but bad in a hot laptop.
Regarding PTM, I dont trust the sellers here. Most are fake, is what I read. I tried PTM from an unknown sellers, and result was not good. After running Cinebech a few times, the TPM got pumped out. I assume I bought fake PTM. I cannot find any reputable dealer for PTM where I live. I read Honeywell wont sell directly to consumers.
I will be going to the USA this summer. Maybe I can pick up some PTM while I am there.
Where do I buy genuine PTM in USA?
Ps. Will also pickup the cheap stuff from Best Buy.
