System update and Java

Is it possible to have System Update not use IBM's JRE 1.4.2. I have Java 1.5 installed and I need it for school. If that is not possible is it possible to install IBM's JRE and have it not interfere with the rest of the system's Java?

Software installer uses Sun's Java 1.5 or whatever. This has always worked for me. The other Updater (not the old one) does not work on my desktop with Sun Java. I'm not changing my Java, and the Desktop doesn't change all that much anyway, so I uninstalled the Updater and do it manually (which is the way I have done it all along in any case). ... JD Hurst
