Hello everyone,
I'm new to thinkpads and this forum, i've had my z61m for 2 weeks now and so far i love this machine except for the flex in the lcd cover.
my question is....
how do you get the smart info from the hdd?!?
i've tried hdd tune and nhc and both give me as far as the model number of my harddrive... (fujitsu mhv2100h) and nothing else
my system details are as follows
z61m (9451-5hk)
1.83 CD / 1.5gigs ram / 15.4" ws 1680X1050 / X1400 / plasic lcd lid / no webcam
any experiences / help would be greatly appreciated.

need help - z61m - cannot get smart info from harddrive
If I am not mistaken, the Fujitsu Diagnostic tool will give you that info.

i have another questsion regarding harddrive noise
(fujitsu mhv2100bh)
this is a 5400 rpm 80gig drive. for the first couple of days it was dead silent. but after 2 days of usual updating and web browsing... it started to make a constant hum/whine. at first i though it was the fan noise and tried turning the fan off with tp fan control with no improvement. i later figured out it was indeed the harddrive that caused the noise after letting it spin down...
i've installed numerouse 2.5" drives before and never encountered this kind of constant fan like noise.
my points of reference are
- various 4200rpm travelstars
- samsung 80gig 5400 pata (very very quiet)
- 7200rpm travelstar
- t43 hdd (this machine is awesome noise level wise - no noise noticable)
my harddrive is the worst in regards to the constant hum and clicking sounds. (my smart status is healthy)
i don't have access to more sata drives so i cannot compare unless i buy a new drive
do any of you have simular experiences?
thanx in advance
