Hi
While l understand what it means, l don't understand the following;
Make sure, that your BIOS is set to boot from your CD Drive.
How do l do this on a 600X?
I am thinking about fixing my 600x as a backup and was checking out hard drives on Ebay.
Thanks
Alan

With the laptop powered off, hold down the F1 key and turn the power on. Continue to hold the key until you see the Easy Setup menu.
Assuming that your trackpoint is working, move over the "Start up" icon and click it. Then click the "Power-on" icon. This presents the boot device order. You should see a couple of icons (labeled 1 through 4) at the top of the screen. To the right is a "Reset" button. If you press that button, it will clear the boot order.
Near the bottom of the screen are icons which represent each bootable device:
FDD - floppy
HDD-1 - hard drive #1
Network - network
HDD-2 - hard drive #2
HDD-3 - hard drive #3
HDD-4 - hard drive #4
PCMCIA - PCMCIA
CDROM - CD/DVD drive
Clicking one of these icons at a time will set the boot order. When done, click the OK button to exit that screen, then the Exit button to exit the "Start up" screnn. You should now be back to the main menu. Click the "Restart" icon and confirm with OK.
