How do I take take standby on/off?
How do I take take standby on/off?
Everytime I shut my lid, my compuer goes on standby. How do I make my screen go back on? I always have to hard reboot for the screen to come back on. I tried all the function keys..
I actually want it on standby when I close the lid. problem is, I dont know how to enable the screen when I open the lid

I have this same problem with my 1875DLU. Nothing will wake the darn thing. But it doesn't always do it. Sometimes it wakes as it should. I have tried everything. I restored it to its factory state, thinking it may have been a bad update, but it did not help.SpunkyXL wrote:I actually want it on standby when I close the lid. problem is, I dont know how to enable the screen when I open the lid
My solution at this point was to change it to hibernate when the lid is closed. It always wakes from the hibernate, so the lid switch is functioning properly.
I'm out of ideas.
The Fn key does not work. The Power button does not work. When the lid is opened I hear the hard drive come on, but that's it. After it sits for a while the fan will come on. The moon stays lit and the only way to get it going again is remove the power and battery.
However, sometimes it wakes from sleep when I open the lid, but most of the time no joy. When set to hibernate, it always comes on when the lid is opened.
Edit: I have to press the power button to wake from hibernate.

You can try the following that I posted on another thread.

Caveat. I lost some of my power schemes in my non-Administrator user accounts. I could have put them back in with the Battery MaxiMiser Wizard, but I choose to try and fix it in the registry. This was a mistake on my part.Actually I would use the shotgun approach and uninstall the following: Battery MaxiMiser, Power Management Driver (in addition to Power Manager above), EasyEject, ThinkPad Configuration, and Presentation Director. Then I would use Software Installer to install the lot at one time.
I just did this this morning for a different issue. Last night I found out that my T42 was not going into Standby on its own, yet the Fn + F4 key combo worked. I tried uninstalling just Battery MaxiMiser, rebooting, then reinstalling Battery MaxiMiser, but that did not solve the problem. That is when I used the shotgun approach, and now Standby is working normally.
