Creating Rescue DVD
Creating Rescue DVD
Hi, this might be asked many time but i cant find a conclusive answer. How do i create a rescue DVD, because i want to get rid of the hidden partition (selling harddrive).
Most important:
I dont want to backup any data, i just want to create a DVD with that i can restore the Thinkpad (T42) to its --factory settings--. With any harddrive inserted into the beauty.

Have you seen the blue ACCESS IBM botton on your thinkpad?gattler wrote:Hi, this might be asked many time but i cant find a conclusive answer. How do i create a rescue DVD, because i want to get rid of the hidden partition (selling harddrive).
Enter "recovery" or "restore" in the search field.
Or if this is too much work:

No, the first one could be also a boot DVD, however, it would be waste.davidspalding wrote:You'd need to use a CD-R(w) for the first disc, as I understand the DVD format doesn't allow booting. The rest ought to fit on a DVD-R(w).
Why? He wants the recovery CD/DVD, nothing else.davidspalding wrote: If you have the IBM software installer, check that you have the latest, greatest version of Rescue and Recovery.![]()

Fixes and enhancements, dude. Driver updates and such would be a good idea, too, since he's putting a brand new hard drive in. That's what I'd do, but to each his own.
Also: Norton Ghost will solve the same problem, but it costs, while R&R is free.
