1st post: Help me choose a T-series
1st post: Help me choose a T-series
So i was drooling over a off-lease $599.99 T22 thinkpad from tigerdirect.ca for the past few days and when I woke up today the price had shot up to $688.99. Now I don't know which one to go for. There are refurbished and off-lease laptops from this website and I like the fact that they are sending me the product from Canada so I won't get owned from duties as it crosses the border. Here's the link. http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/ ... 975&cat=17
I will be using this laptop for school and watching videos both on the laptop screen and on a tv using the s-video output. For school I'll be using it to check e-mails, surf the web and excel.
1.Which model do you all think is the best?
2.The T22 has a 2x agp video interface whereas the T23 has a 4x. Will there be a noticeable difference?
3.In the product specifications it also notes that the T23 has a titanium casing but in the T22 description it fails to mention any titanium. But i also read that these T-series notebooks using titanium in them. So does only the T23 come with this material or all models including the T21 come with it?
Thx in advance for your attention and I'm looking forward to becoming a proud thinkpad owner.

prices way too high
It's only my view, but the prices seem way too high. Look at IBM certified used machine on IBM site for less. And eBay routinely has good condition T23s at the $500 mark. You may have to ask a few questions, read the feedback carefully, see what the person is selling and has sold, but i think you get burned there less often than it sometimes seems, esp if you can find an individual selling.

T23's for 500 USD? That's like $600 CDN, a whole $200 less than the website I'm looking at. I would like to order my thinkpad from a website that will offer me atleast a few months warranty. Individuals on ebay don't rip you off that much? hrmmm. I will check that out. But won't the duties be a lot as it crosses the American border into Canada if I order off Ebay?
Btw just checked ibm.ca and their prices are a little more than tigerdirect.ca

Don't know if this is allowed, but the really nice T23 I got for $569 came from this guy http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZpeabody3721
Don't know about duties etc. Sorry, I thought the IBM prices were lower. I looked, too, last night and they're not. On the other hand, they're straight from IBM and not far off the prices you mentioned.[/url]
so p3-m's use a different manufacturing process that allows it to run cooler and with less energy thus prolonging battery life. they also come with double the L2 cache. anyone know how the battery life would compare between a t21 with a p3 800mhz, t22 with a p3 900mhz and a t23 with a p3-m 1.0-1.13 mhz?
