T60 thinks it has a second monitor attached

My wife's T60 seems to think that it has a second monitor attached when ever it wakes up from sleep mode or is removed from it's docking station. If she reboots the machine she is able to log in but after that the screen on the machine goes blank and we have to plug in a second monitor to see what she is working on. Any insight or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
