Hello all,
I am very new to this forum, but thought I might get some insight on here.

My grandpa gave me his old T60(Lenovo/IBM). Someone had already flashed Win8 on it, so I decided to just upgrade it to 10.

Well, after doing a fresh install, I can’t seem to get many of the drivers to work or install. The main one I’m concerned about is the Fingerprint Reader.

In Device Manager, it shows up as “Biometric Coprocessor,” and when I try to install the Fingerprint Manager, it gives me an error saying “Windows Biometric Framework is not enabled.” I already tried editing the group policy, and I unplugged the unit itself and plugged it back in in hopes that Windows would register it. It didn’t.

If anyone has any advice or help, please let me know
THANK YOU!!!

You are trying to use the thinkvantage utility right?
If you are using 32 bit Windows 10, this should be the one that works: https://think.lenovo.com.cn/support/dri ... 6osid%3D33
At least I tried that on a Dell Latitude with the same Touchchip scanner and it worked fine
If you are using 64 bit Windows 10, Windows update catelog also has a standalone driver that is much easier to deal with:

This is just the driver, Windows Hello takes care of the rest

Hi , What version Win10 are you using ? Is it 32/64? and what was the source of this installation version?
Eventhough you said it's a fresh install , i would run an sfc & dism on that system to try to identify if there are any corrupted files with the installation. Once done , run a windows update. I have seen success with Win7/8 drivers running in compatibility mode , check this ,

If they dont work , check win10 drivers , here
Since you had a go at regedit , check these steps to make sure you haven;t missed anything.
I am sure you are aware ,Win10 will not enable biometric sign in unless you assign a password to your login account. And to make sure this is not account specific , i would create a dummy "admin"account and check windows hello settings from there.

my young T400 had a fingerprint reader problems for w10 64 bit drivers.
Resolved by using fingerprint driver (w10 64 bit driver) from Dell.
works nicely.
