How to fix TrackPoint

#1 Post by giovanazzi » Sun Nov 09, 2025 9:22 am

I got a T61 with dead TrackPoint and its buttons. I'm aiming to restore it and wonder if it is possible without changing the entire keyboard

My first thought thought is that the trackpoint has been disabled in the bios
Try enabling it

If it is enabled and it still doesn't work, then you can try to change the rubber domes underneath the buttons, maybe they have gone bad
The buttons are connected directly to the keyboard and can't be swapped

If none of that works then no, there is no way

Also, while the trackpoint stick is it's own module and you can try to swap the entire cable assembly which includes the trackpoint, no one sells just the cable so you can't really do that without second broken keyboard
