Had a t40P 14.1 SXGA+. Very nice.
Need new laptop. Drawn to the T60 15" Flexview, but love the power and form of X60. In 2 months lenovo may introduce sxga X60. Not sure I can wait.
Is the xga (1024x768) more acceptable on a 12.1 lcd than would otherwise be the case?

Re: Want X60, but XGA Resolution - On the fence
Slightly more acceptable than for 14.1" screens (not to mention 15" ones!), but after getting used to SXGA+ and higher-resolution laptops, I have promised myself never to get another 12.1" XGA laptop. I will go back to the X-series (I've owned seven) only if Lenovo introduces 12.1" WXGA or SXGA+ models. No, I don't want the SXGA+ X60 tablet because its weight of 3.8 lbs is ridiculous; for just a little more money I could get a 3.4-lb Panasonic Y5 with 14.1" SXGA+ and a built-in optical drive.Alltweed wrote:Is the xga (1024x768) more acceptable on a 12.1 lcd than would otherwise be the case?

All depends on what your needs are and how you use your ThinkPad.
Unlike PW, I'm satisfied with the combination of the standard 12.1" XGA panel, in combination with a 20" external 1600x1200 panel on my desk, connected to an Ultrabase. High resolution when I'm docked, but when I'm not at my desk, I compromise resolution for mobility. The nice thing is that both panels are about 100 dpi so I don't need to mess with font sizes etc.
The 14" T60 SXGA+ is a very nice machine, but it's pretty big (dimensions more so than the weight) for using on flights, for example, compared to the X series.

X220 (4287-2W5, Windows 8 Pro) / X31 (2672-CXU, XP Pro) / X61s (7668-CTO, Windows 8 Pro)
I'm very pleased with my X60. I had always used T series laptops from Lenovo in the past and they seem huge now compared to this X60. The screen resolution is a low for my taste at 1024x768 but it is a fair trade off for the size... in my opinion. If they made an X60 with a SXGA screen that would be really great. However, as pointed out above, when it comes to portability and comfort when traveling, you can't beat the X60.
