cheap sleeves for X60+8cell (and t60) ***image***

#1 Post by tian » Thu Apr 12, 2007 3:21 pm

hi there!

just thought i'd share a good find with you guys. i recently bought a neoprene sleeve for my x60, and i'm glad to say it fits like a sleeve even with the 8cell attached ;-)

i feel a little easier carrying my x60 around uni with this. here are some picts attached, the smaller one is of the x60+8cell and the bigger one is a t60+4cell.

i bought mine for £11 (inc p&p), type "thinkpad sleeve" in ebay.

fwiw: i doubt these are genuine IBM sleeve (i.e. not authorised to use the trademark), but they seem to be quite good quality.

hope this helps,
tian

Looks useful for some added protection before sticking my Thinkpad in a backpack or suitcase. I'll have a look, thanks for the post.

I have the same one as Tian and am very pleased with it. I found it on eBay and wanted to have matching accessories for my x60s :) I feel comfortable using it to tote my laptop around in a backpack. One just needs to be sensible about how they carry and handle their bag.

Prior to that I used a sleeve from Case Logic, which in retrospect is better than the IBM sleeve. Its branded and marketed for the 12.1" iBook and PowerBook, but works with ANY 12.1" notebook. You can find it on the Case Logic site for 29.99 USD.

I like that it has a storage compartment for your AC adapter and other stuff. The IBM sleeve doesn't have that. It fits very snug with my 8cell battery.

I can highly recommend the Crumpler Gimp series of sleeves - superstrong neoprene and reasonably priced, if you buy them from here:

www.mymemory.co.uk.

My X60 slips perfectly into the 12" Gimp (with room to spare for the 8 cell?) and my old T42 was snug in the 15". Very good quality.

I just got my casesleeve and gear bag from SFBags.com [Water Field] today and they are AMAZING! I am a perfectionist when it comes to luggage and packs and this stuff is nothing but TOP notch. The zippers are amazing, the neoprene is wonderful, and the nylon is smooth and bulletproof looking :-)

Sure it's a bit expensive, but the Water Field casesleeve is SO much nicer than those other sleeves posted . And no, I don't have any affiliation with SF Bags.
