X60s keyboard
X60s keyboard
Got an X60s 1.8GHZ 1GB 100GB ram 5400rpm
Sealed for $1,025

Is it just me or the keyboard quality has gone south? I'm comparing it to my X41.

I guess he isn't happy between the aesthestic variation between his x60 with the x41? I am new to thinkpad but I believe that the x41 previous ancestor should be much alike to it.dr_st wrote:First of all, you need a warning in the title if you post a picture.
Second, I don't understand what it is that you're trying to show with it.
X60 1706-BQ6, T7200, 4GB DDR2, 320GB hdd, 12.1" XGA, Intel WiFi Card, 8 Cell, X6 Multiburner with Lightscribe
Fortunately, there is a T42, which is like T43, minus the fan noise and the 2010 error. Unfortunately, the corresponding X-series laptop (X40) still has the 1.8" hard disk.gunston wrote:X41 is the almost perfect 12' thinkpad aside from it 1.8" hard disk. same as T43 aside form its noisy fan issue...

I bought an X30 and an X60s on ebay around the same time. While the two keyboards do have a different feel, I think they both feel "good." In fact, I think Lenovo still uses the same vendors (plus a third) that IBM has been using for quite some time.
The X30 seemed to require a heavier hand when typing. It also felt like the keys were damped with rubber when fully depressed which suppressed the clicking sound most laptop keyboards have.
The X60s has softer keys, but the size and shape is still excellent. I never took the X30 keyboard apart before I sold it, but the X60s still has scissor switches although I didn't check to see if it uses snap-domes or springs for rebound.

Re: X60s keyboard
This is rather insightful Athlex. I may remember playing with a x60 and it did feel different without being "bad". I hope Lenovo understands it is the little things like keyboard quality and durability that the Thinkpad brand they purchased is associated with.Athlex wrote:berlin wrote:
