I would like to find some information on the actual weight figures
of the two machines. Z61m and Z61p.
The specification pages that Lenovo put up in their PDF documents
do not include this important information at all.
Please add some auxiliary information on the optional hardware
items that your laptop actually has, which affects the final
weight.
From what I understand, I do not think that they include the
power adapter in the weight specification.
Thanks a lot.
Hugh

Few people have the means to accurately weigh their own laptops. I do, but I don't own a Z-series Thinkpads.
Have you checked the Tabook? I just took a quick look and the Z61p appears slightly heavier.
Both are of similar dimensions and weight as my Dell Inspiron 6000, which IMO is way too heavy to be carried around. So, no matter which one you end up buying, you'd probably just leave it on your desk most of the time, so it doesn't really matter whether it's 6.5 lbs or 7.3 lbs. Just get whichever has the specs you want. BTW, if you're planning to order from Lenovo.com, it's too late because they now only have Z61t's.

I've carried around a z61m for a few months now. It is far too heavy to hold with one hand for anything more then 15 minutes, but it isn't too heavy.
Carrying this laptop (along with a LOT of extra junk like cables, CDs, PC cards, etc) in my Targus shoulder bag will begin to ache on my shoulders, though.
